Giving a great report takes a little bit of time and effort. Here are 6 quick tips to get you started.

1. Make it something you are interested in. If possible, you should make sure that you only do reports on something that you yourself find interesting. Sometimes, of course, you don’t have a choice on what to do your report on, but hopefully you can find points of interest even in the boring things. For instance, if you have to do a report on the economy of Australia, and you are interested in surfing, try and explore the effects of surfing on the economy of Australia. If your teacher gives you a choice of a few different topics, choose the one that interests you the most.

2. Make it entertaining. Not just for them, but for you too. Try and get creative by perhaps making up a skit or a play, coming to class as a certain character, or making some food at home and bringing it in. This will not only make things more interesting for your audience, you will have a lot more fun while you are putting your report together.

3. Do it Now. As soon as you get the assignment, start brainstorming ideas off the top of your head. You may not revisit them until a week or a few days before the report, but you’ll be glad you have these ideas written down when crunch time is approaching. We’d love to tell you not to procrastinate at all, and that would be greatly preferable, but the reality is that most people will, at least a little bit. Get in the habit of brainstorming early, then you’ll at least have some notes to come back to and work off of when you are feeling the pressure.

4. Make It A Team Effort. First of all, have a talk with your teacher (a great partner for the initial brainstorming session), and ask him or her if they have any ideas or good places to start. Another good idea might be to partner up with someone, either for the whole project, or for certain parts, such as a skit, if you are going that way. You and a friend can help each other with your reports and that way you’ll have much more fun, as well as being able to bounce ideas off someone.

5. Make it Attractive. There are lots of different ways you can make your written material stand out. Go to a copy shop or look around online for different ways to put your pages together. If the report is longer and more serious, you can make a little booklet to hand out with your scripts, graphics, and statistics in it. Make it something that your audience will want to hold on to for a long time.

6. Use Many Sources. Don’t just Google something, or go to the Wikipedia page, and halfheartedly scribble something down. Go talk to the school librarian, conduct some interviews (maybe even on video), or bring something tangible in. It is not that much more effort, and you’ll find that it’s even fun. It is these small touches that will make your report shine.

When you are at the end of your studies for your degree it will be necessary for you to write your thesis. Writing a thesis is a very important part of your schooling and more times than not it will account for much of your grading. A well written thesis and a poor written thesis can mean the difference between a degree and no degree.

Just knowing that your thesis will go in front of the great minds of the thesis committee for review is enough to stress out even the most level-headed person, but with a little bit or planning and a lot of hard work your thesis can come out perfect and impress even the most staunch person on the committee.

For the most part a thesis can be broken down into different parts and these parts are as follows:

• Title Page: Items such as your name as the author, your institution, and your department go on the title page.

• Abstract: This is a concise and readable explanation of the importance of your thesis.

• Table of Contents: List of all headings and subheadings with page numbers.

• List of Figures: Here you will list all figures in your thesis with a page number.

• List of Tables: Here you will list all tables in your thesis with a page number.

• Introduction: Many choose to write this section last as you can’t write a good introduction without knowing what the thesis will be about.

• Methods: This is where all calculations and other information go that will allow the reader to formulate the believability of your results.

• Results: This will be your actual statement of your observations. Include graphs and tables to backup your work.

• Discussion: Written in brief essay style this is where you will compare trends, compare past works, and use other such methods.

• Conclusions: This will be the strongest and most compelling statement you can formulate drawn from your observations.

• Recommendations: Here you will want to offer further research resources to fill in any possible gaps.

• Acknowledgements: Anyone such as an advisor who helped you will go in this section.

• References: Here is where you give credit where credit is due.

• Appendices: This makes for a quick reference for those reviewing your thesis.

When writing your thesis critical analysis is the key. Those who review it will be looking for you to answer a specific question or hypothesis by gathering vast amounts of evidence and then turning it all into a judgment or interpretation. Your results should be clearly discussed and if there is any relevant source that you use you needs to be sure that you cite it.

Perhaps the biggest mistake that some make when preparing for their thesis is in estimating the time it will take to write it. You should start early and give yourself the time you will need in order to write the best thesis possible. Remember, your thesis will be one of the last things standing in your way when it comes to obtaining your degree so you need to be sure that it is well thought out, well planned for, and written in the best possible manner.

Jason Kay recommends downloading professional sample thesis papers to help you write your own.

Affectionately known as Nessie, Loch Ness monster is a cryptid that is assumed to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Interest and belief was drawn to the animal in 1933 when Alex Campbell, the water bailiff for Loch Ness and a part-time journalist reported the creature in Inverness Courier. Sightings continue to be reported and funded expeditions are often sent to reveal the truth. In 2003 a BBC expedition surveyed the entire Loch using sonar and they concluded that no monster exists. Despite its non-existence, it remains one of the most famous examples of crypto-zoology.

Adamnan had reported the first sighting of the creature in the 7th century book- Life of St. Columba. In the book, he explained how Columba rescued a Picts, who was supposedly attacked by the monster at river Ness (not the Loch). On the contrary, no violent incident has been reported until date. Critics expelled the existence of Nessie, by claiming that the book has many natural and supernatural tales, which cannot necessarily relate to present happenings.

Many people claimed the alleged sightings of the monster. However, Peter Martin and Sam Jacobs revealed the first apparent statistics of the monster in the sighting of July 1933. Nessie is supposedly 4 feet high, 25 feet long, and has long, narrow neck. Later that year, another witness Margaret Munro, evidently saw this huge creature that had elephant-like skin, a long neck, a small head and two short forelegs.

Nessie’s proof of existence has been digressive since the photographic material, and sonar readings are debatable. No conclusive evidence either in form of skeletal ruins, definitive tissue samples, spoor or live animal detention has been uncovered. However, Nessie received a taxonomic name - Nessiteras rhombopteryx in 1975.

Critics in favour of their argument explain; it is beyond the bounds of possibility that a cryptid can survived long enough to explain all the sightings over the centuries. A small herd of creatures must exist that have survived over these centuries, yet managed to remain hidden from discovery. An act of balancing, which again is unthinkable.

Assuming Nessie’s existence plesiosaur is the usual candidate that is assumed to have survived extinction. Another option that seems to support claims is that the creature is a giant eel.

Amongst the supposedly evidence of Nessie, the “Surgeon’s Photograph” is the most prominent. Photographed by gynecologist Robert Kenneth Wilson in April 1934, it was the only photographic evidence of a “head and neck”. The image was revealed as a hoax in 1994.

In 1987, Operation Deepscan, the biggest sonar exploration of Loch Ness took place. Twenty-four boats equipped with sonar were deployed across the whole width of the lake and they simultaneously sent out acoustic waves. After analyzing the SONAR images and echogram data, Darrell Lowrance (Founder of Lowrance Electronics) commented, “There’s something here that we don’t understand, and there’s something here that’s larger than a fish, maybe some species that hasn’t been detected before. I don’t know.”

The cosmic acknowledgement of Nessie has brought commercialization to the Loch. There are many “Nessie hunting” boat trips available for tourists. If Nessie is not spotted, the tales spun by the locals sure will entertain you.

It is assumed flying saucers are of alien or governmental military origin, but are we are of another origin- The Ancient India? The Indian connection has recently emerged when Chinese discovered Sanskrit documents in Tibet and sent them for translation to the University of Chandrigarh. What came, as a shocking discovery was the documents contained directions for building interstellar spaceships.

It is a well-known fact that the Indian Epics contain information on science and medicine, which are currently embraced, researched and used by the Western world. There are numerous authentic text that are still left untouched, as their translation from old Sanskrit to the current languages is yet under scanner.

Indian Emperor Ashoka formulated a “Secret Society of the Nine Unknown Men”: These men were supposed to catalogue the many sciences, which were kept under secrecy because these manuscripts contained potent information, which could fuel war. Being converted to Buddhism, he was against bloodshed and feared getting trapped into the vicious cycle of war again, if these texts came out in the open.

The nine unknown men wrote the nine books. The first book focused on “The Secrets of Gravitation” and deals with gravity control. According to the manuscripts ancient India had flying machines that were called “Vimanas”. These are described as double-deck, circular aircraft with portholes and a dome, much as we would imagine a flying saucer. It flew with the “speed of the wind” and gave forth a “melodious sound.” There were at least four different types of Vimanas and the ancient Indians, wrote the entire flight manuals on the control of these Vimanas. .

In the Samarangana Sutradhara (Flying vehicles construction manual) there are 230 stanzas dealing with the construction, take-off, cruising for thousand of miles, normal and forced landings, and even possible collisions with birds. A scientific treatise dealing with every possible facet of air travels in the Vimana. Further, steering, precautions for long flights, protection of the airships from storms and lightning and how to switch the drive to “solar energy” from a free energy source which sounds like “anti-gravity were added to the manual by a 4th Century B.C. scientist.

The Vaimanika Sastra (Flying Saucer Manual) contains eight chapters with diagrams, describing three types of aircraft, with apparatuses that could neither catch fire nor break. It also mentions 31 essential parts of these vehicles and 16 materials from which they are constructed. Since, these materials absorbed light and heat; they were considered suitable for the construction of Vimanas.

Vimanas were powered by “anti-gravity.” They took off vertically, and were capable of hovering in the sky, like a modern helicopter. These ancient scripts hold exquisite details of 70 authorities and 10 experts of air travel in antiquity. It’s presumed that some of these text might also talk about interplanetary travel, but that will be revealed in due course of time, when translators will be able to comprehend these manuscripts. However, the great Indian epic - Ramayana holds description of a trip to moon in the Vimana and a battle fought on the surface of the moon with an airship.

Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) are described as saucer, bowl, or triangular shaped craft with nocturnal lights and appear to be under intelligent control. Objectively, any flying object that initially cannot be identified as an airplane, helicopter, blimp, balloon or kite, is termed as a UFO. Even though the first sighting began with Kenneth Arnold in 1947, UFO accounts back to ancient times; ancient cave drawings, sculptures, paintings, and folklore depict UFO influence on mankind.

Is alien abduction or UFO sighting real events? People from all walks of life, religion, occupation and ethnicity have witnessed a flying, shining disc. And, many claim to have encountered contact with extraterrestrials through physical or psychological interventions. Usually the contacts are malevolent; forced medical tests conducted on the victims.

To assert that UFO is an extraterrestrial spacecraft is a delicate task, numerous claims have been subjected to examination and all of them have not exhibited any conclusive proof. Usually, photographic anomaly or a deceptive multimedia graphic comes forth in the limelight of the acclaimed photographs. However, when all such possibilities are ruled out, only then it can be safely proclaimed that extraterrestrial spacecraft are UFOs, until then we have to continue our journey into the scientology world.

According to a 1996 research, approximately 4 million Americans have claimed to been whisked aboard an alien craft unwillingly and subjected to medical experiments, or sexually assaulted. Victims have showcased their abduction through implants, cattle mutation or crop-circles, all of which contain no exclusive proof of being raided by extraterrestrial, and some are mystical in nature. Scientists have formulated theories that can provide a comprehensive explanation to these evidences.

Ufology is the branch of science that studies the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrial life. Scientists have categorized extraterrestrial species into three categories –The Grays, Humanoids and Beast Like Aliens.

The Grays are described as highly evolved alien species who are up to 5 feet tall, have large heads, thin arms and legs, large shiny, opaque black eyes, and are remarkably intelligent. They have frequent occurrence as reported by witnesses.

Humanoids or Nordics are usually reported in Europe. They are super-humans, often referred as space brothers and carry an attractive and friendly poise.

Beast Like Aliens are ordinarily reported in South America and Africa. They include furry little monsters, giant blobs, Cyclopes, and giant insects.

According to a retired government physicist - Bob Lazar, alien aircraft operates on antigravity-propulsion. The craft generates its own gravitational field, compelling it to move forward at a perpetual cascading motion. The craft is built for rapid space travel, and appear to wobble and move sporadically when hovering or traveling at slow speeds. Fascinatingly numerous eyewitness descriptions stands in accordance with this theory.

It is fiercely believed that US government holds secret organizations like Men In Black and Jason Society, who engage in suppressing the extraterrestrial existence amongst human kind. The notorious “Roswell Incident” has led us to believe that the United States Government has commenced with aliens to abduct and conduct experiments on human in lieu of their technology.

Investing in private academic tutoring can be a difficult decision. While specific types of tutoring may have unique benefits, certain aspects of the student-tutor relationship are essential. When looking into tutoring, be sure to keep these important ideas in mind to ensure that student needs are being met:

1. Student-Tutor Rapport: The relationship that develops between student and tutor is one of the greatest benefits of private tutoring. After becoming familiar with a student, a tutor should be able to approach his/her student in a way that fits with the student’s learning style. It can be extremely beneficial for students to receive different perspectives on difficult material, and tutors can complement the lessons students receive in school and present material in more understandable ways. Worthwhile tutors should also be enthusiastic and nurturing when dealing with students, pushing them to succeed while offering support through challenging classes. Students often prefer working with a tutor rather than getting help from parents or teachers, and this enthusiasm and willingness to work can make a big difference for many students. When matched with tutors who they relate to and enjoy working with, students often become more passionate and engaged in their studies, significantly improving classroom performance.

2. A Nurturing Environment: To ensure that students are getting the most out of their academic tutoring, the tutoring environment must be conducive to learning. Many students struggle in the classroom because it is a noisy, distracting atmosphere, but tutoring should be designed to limit these distractions as much as possible. Tutors should create a quiet and welcoming environment that encourages easily-distracted students to focus and shy students to ask questions they hesitate to bring up in a classroom. An effective tutoring environment can be of particular importance to students with learning disabilities such as Attention Deficit Disorder who may have an especially tough time in conventional classroom settings.

3. Academic Expertise: Whether a student needs intensive help on a specific topic (e.g. Algebra, Spanish, or Chemistry) or just general support with homework and other assignments, tutors must have mastery of the material being covered. Tutors who know material well can help guide students finish make-up work, complete difficult assignments, and prepare for tests and exams. Unlike school teachers, who must balance time and energy commitments to the rest of a student’s class, private tutors can focus intensely on a specific student’s needs as they work through material together. Academic tutors can also move students through significant amounts of material relatively quickly, making studying and homework time more efficient for busy students.

4. Communication: Perhaps most importantly, it is important to have clear and open communication with an academic tutor. Tutors obviously work closely with students, but they should also be willing to communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and counselors to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that students are getting the help they really need. Regular conversations and progress reports can help keep parents in the loop; tutors should be willing to help facilitate communication amongst everyone involved in a student’s education.

Families who can find tutoring options that satisfy these characteristics typically see their students establish tutoring relationships and improve academically. Knowing what to look for in a tutor can make it much easier for families to find tutors who will help their students achieve outstanding results in the classroom.

It was not very long ago that the majority of buttons had a shiny, iridescent quality. In fact, take a look at shirts and dresses as recent as the 1970’s, and you might notice these luminous buttons. They are made of mother-of-pearl, which is the inner shell layer of certain mollusks, and is made out of nacre - the same stuff that pearls are made of. Before the late 1800’s, buttons were predominately an import item in the United States. That is, until John Frederick Boepple came along.

Born into a German button-making factory, Boepple honed his craft and expertise in Germany and Austria until 1887, when he reached a big turning point in his life. Prior to that time in 1887, stiffer and stiffer tariffs were being placed on imported material. Since Boepple used predominately imported shells and horns to make his buttons, this hurt his business very badly. To make matters worse, his wife died suddenly. With nothing left to live for, Boepple headed straight to the one place that he knew beautiful shells were abundant and untapped - the Mississippi River in the United States.

He had a hard road ahead. He had no friends or contacts in the U.S. and he spoke no English. He was focused on the task at hand, however, and even while he performed odd jobs for farmers and business owners in Illinois, he learned enough English to get around, and started collecting odds and ends of old machinery to start constructing a lathe with which to make buttons.

Lucky for Boepple, the MicKinley Tariff of 1890 echoed the stiff import tariffs that had been imposed just a few years earlier in Europe. Until this McKinley Tariff, people had been importing buttons from Europe. For the dual reason that the button industry was suffering in Europe because of the unavailability of inexpensive materials and the fact that it became even more expensive in the U.S. to order the already scant amount of buttons available in Europe, the U.S. was ripe for its own button industry.

Boepple realized he needed to strike while the iron was hot, and promptly moved to Muscatine, Iowa, where the Mississippi River had many thick-shelled mollusks for a fledgling button-maker. He built himself the best equipment he could muster out of the odds and ends he had collected, and started making buttons. He was very good at it, and word got around that mother-of-pearl buttons could be gotten in the U.S. and for a reasonable price.

Two investors, I.A. Kerr and William Molis, took an interest in Boepple’s tiny business, and bolstered him enough to create the very first freshwater pearl button factory in the U.S. and even the world, as European button-makers did not make the buttons in factories. Unfortunately for Boepple, Kerr and Molis did not understand the delicacy required of working with mother-of-pearl, and purchased equipment ill-suited to the process. They were anxious to mass-produce the buttons, which Boepple saw basically as works of art. The alliance soon crumbled, and while Kerr and Molis’s factory stayed open and produced buttons, Boepple made buttons out of his home, and opened a new factory that ran the way he wanted it to.

Muscatine thrived with this new business, and by 1905 produced more than 30% of all the buttons in the world at that time. By 1897 there were 53 button companies in Muscatine alone, not to mention the many other button factories along the Mississippi River. It wasn’t very long before someone figured out a good way to automate the creation of mother-of-pearl buttons, thus making Boepple’s old-world craftmanship (and the time it took to make a button) obsolete.

Boepple stopped making buttons, and concentrated on a freelance business that bought shells for other button companies. He soon realized that the quality of shells had diminished, and was dismayed to find out that this “button boom” had depleted the Mississippi River’s natural supply of mussels. He went to work for the Fairport Biological Station, which was an initiative founded by Congress in 1908 to find out how to propagate mussels for this lucrative American industry.

Boepple modified the tool used most frequently to catch mussels - making it so it spared the younger mussels to allow them to grow bigger and multiply. While he was performing the duties associated with this job, he cut his fot on a broken mussel shell. Just a few months later, he died of blood poisoning in a Muscatine hospital.

To this day, Boepple is credited with the creation of an industry that provided Muscatine with jobs and income for many years.

A woman is the epitome of strength and resilience, symbolization of the perfect balances of senses and a unique power to endure the best and the worst of life. To understand a woman is difficult, but yet the most difficult part is to comprehend how she leads her life taking care of each and every aspect, giving attention to all the minute details, of her family, her friends and all those who are close to her. Women trying to make their mark in the professional front, juggle their careers and their family life and still try to achieve single-handedly the bitter-sweet taste of success, which bestows her the tinge of joy. The National Association of Professional Women aims at providing a sound network system to working women as a platform to exchange ideas, and interact with each other on different issues and seek advices and support.

National Association of Professional Women or NAPW is developing into a network with a strong foundation and abounds with resources, services, advancement and career movements to develop women’s careers. NAPW is progressing into a full-fledged networking site broadcasting podcasts, keynote speeches, seminars, webinars and skills required for career enhancements with the only purpose of helping women to climb up the career ladders in their respective professions. NAPW is proud to have provided a diverse yet global forum exclusively dedicated to urge women from compatible backgrounds to come together to discuss and create relationships on personal, social and professional grounds.

NAPW does not only restrict to the networking aspect which even though is an important factor yet does not complete the entire meaning of why the forum has been organized. NAPW has been pushing itself still further and has been joining hands with charitable institutions that are very much concerned about women’s problems and issues, and understands the power enclosed in the folds of knowledge. They understand that it is not only important to celebrate the success of career women but also to promote those women who earnestly want to grow into real professionals in their career fronts. It is for this reason that NAPW has taken up the matter with sheer dedication and has decided to support five young women each year by providing financial aid of $1,000 to each of them, to ensure that the future generation of the womankind is not affected due to the lack of finances. The NAPW Rising Stars Education Scholarship is modeled in such a way so as to provide a medium for future career-oriented women to realize their educational goals and to encourage them to become professionally challenged so as to strive ahead to reach their career goals.

NAPW has specifically organized the Rising Stars Education Scholarship Program as an effort to support the daughters of the NAPW members, who need support and guidance to excel at their respective fields. It is strictly limited to applicants below 23 years of age who are either high-school seniors or enrolled for an undergraduate program and should possess a minimum of 3.5 GPA at the High school level and a GPA of 3.2 at the College level.

It is interesting to note that NAPW is intensely concerned about the growth of professional women and by providing this extra-ordinary network service, it not only offers the right information and direction but also helps women with similar backgrounds to come together and develop a bond both on the personal and professional fronts to understand the realities of the professional world.

Rashmi Menon takes great interest in the dedication shown by National Association of Professional Women towards uniting professional women and providing knowledge on the same grounds. Please check information on National Association of Professional Women to learn more about their scholarship plans.

Web designers and web developers work hand in hand and both these fields require a lot of skills. There is a huge demand in this field and hence it is very essential that you learn all the techniques required in this field. Only a proper course will set you apart from the several others who are not so well trained in this regard. Given below are the basic skills that is required in the field of web designing.

Skills Required

The basics of a tertiary vocational education in web designing not only involve the technical side of things but also other skills that are necessary to become a web designer. One basic tip that one should always keep in mind in this regard that this field requires one to be very observant with an eye for detail.

It is very important for a web designer to pay attention to every minute detail. It is very important for a designer to know how to cater to the needs and requirements of the client. You should be careful about your target market during the process of designing.

A web designer must also possess a strong aesthetic sense. An effective web design is one that conveys all the information that is required in a manner which appeals to the target audience. Hence, along with the information it is very important to make the website look attractive ad eye-catching.

Remember, a boring site or design is sure to discourage users to access the website. You are not supposed to list information page after page. Your creativity will lie how well you can compress the required information in an attractive manner. If users required detailed information they might as well access Wikipedia, why go to a site designed by you? You need to pick the most important information to prepare the content for the website.

Looking at the technical side of things you should have a thorough knowledge of XHTML and HTML technology. Such technologies keep on developing each day; hence you should keep yourself upgraded in this regard. If you are ignorant about the basic languages required for web designing you will be unable to communicate properly through the web site you design. You can easily design simple websites, just with the help of these two basic languages.

CSS is the next advanced program that one should learn if he intends to survive in this field. It is an amazing tool. CSS is Cascading Style Sheets. A thorough knowledge of this will help you to enhance your design with unique web page layouts. Moreover, you can also change your web page style and give it a completely different look.

Apart from CSS you must also be comfortable with the use of Javascript and Ajax. It is the basic interactive element that is a must for any web site. Thus, it is essential for a web designer to master this. Once you are expert in Javascript you should also learn using other platforms like C++, PERL, ASP etc. this will open up other options for developing any web site. To improve your skills in the graphics and animation department you must learn using Flash.

The sky is the limit as far as web designing goes. You can keep learning all the time and never get exhausted. This is so because with each passing day technology is developing for the better. It also makes your designs better, faster, and effective.
