The State of Alabama established a department that caters to the development of their youth. The Alabama Department of Youth Services School District is the one supervising delinquent youths. These youth offenders are placed in a facility and guided programs to help them recover from their past.
In 1973, the state of Alabama established The Alabama Department of Youth Services. Its task is to create a comprehensive program that will guide delinquent youths of the state to rehabilitation. The school district was created in 1983. Thus, the Alabama Department of Youth Services became The Alabama Department of Youth Services School District. Under this new department, all educational programs created by the old department will be under its supervision. As a result, three delinquent youth institutions were absorbed by the new department. These are the Alabama Boys Industrial School at Birmingham and in Mt. Meigs, and the Alabama State Training School for Girls.
Vision and Mission of Alabama’s DYS
The Alabama Department of Youth Services School District (DYS) envisions that success can be experienced through the help of an environment educational and promote good values such as life long learning, community, family and good character. In order to achieve this vision, they need to prepare and equip the youth/students through discipline and proper formal education.
Beliefs of Alabama’s DYS
The DYS further believes that, everybody in the community must help participate in creating a better environment, be fair and just, treat others with respect, be responsible, be patient and understanding, admit own mistakes, develop self-esteem, and the learning environment must be orderly, safe as well as secure. These beliefs act as their foundation in helping the delinquent youths become a better person and be prepared for the real world.
Programs of DYS
Aside from values education, other programs include skills development. It is through skills development programs that these delinquent youths are profiting. The DYS understands that some of these youth offenders do not have the access to proper and formal education. As a response, they designed programs that will enhance the skills of a student so that when she/he finishes the program, she/he will have job opportunities.
Some of the created programs were specialized by institutions and some runs generally. The programs run by these institutions are majorly categorized into two: short term and long term programs. Youth offenders are evaluated and a proper program is given. The program continuously runs until such time that the student is ready to go back and start a new life.
Facilities of DYS
Today, the DYS supervises more than three facilities. The following facilities are: Autauga Campus, Chalkville Campus, Mobile Group Home, Mt. Meigs Campus, Thomasville Campus and Vacca Campus. Each institution caters to different types of youth offenders.
Chalkville Campus is located at P.O. Box 9486, Birmingham, Alabama. Their main focus is to help rehabilitate girls usually from 12-18 years old. Some of their programs include, physical education, sex education, campus service projects, general education (GED) preparation, group counseling, drug and alcohol education. They also provide social skills training, value clarification, assertiveness training and medical services. Recently, the Chemical Addiction Program (CAP) was created to strengthen alcohol and drug rehabilitation.
Mt. Meigs Campus is located at P.O. Box 66, 1000 Industrial School Road, Mt. Meigs, Alabama. The campus has 13 dormitories that can hold a total number of 312 delinquent youths. They admit children of up to 21 years old. The campus offers programs that focus on medical, vocational and academic education, psychological services, chronic behavior, assessment as well as treatment for sex offenders and the CAP.
Thomasville Campus is located at P.O. Box 695, 2109 Bashi Road Building 509 Thomasville, Alabama. This campus specializes in offering short term programs for delinquent youths. The programs usually run up to 28 days. The student can be released from the service once he finishes the program.

A friendly letter may be informal or casual, but it is still good to follow certain guidelines in writing one.
A friendly letter may be informal or casual, but it is still a letter. And as a general rule, letters should be clear, readable and organized. Otherwise, the recipient will have a hard time deciphering your message.
A readable letter can be scanned quickly to get the gist of the message. It has simple and direct sentences organized into several concise paragraphs.
Like business letters, a friendly letter is also divided into seven parts: heading, salutation, introduction, body, conclusion, closing and signature. Some people deviate from this format, and that is okay with informal letters.
The heading usually consists of three lines. The first two lines bear the complete address of the recipient. The third line indicates the date the letter was written.
Salutations are opening greetings. The most often used salutation is “Dear.” But with informal and personal notes, salutations can take many forms. Sometimes people write “Dearest” or “Ever dearest.”
The introduction gives an overview of the topic at hand. This section of the friendly letter is normally written in paragraph form.
The body is the bulk of the letter, consisting of several paragraphs. All paragraphs should be coherent to one another, all leading to the main message of the letter.
The conclusion sums up the topics offered on the body of the letter.
Closing is often made of one or two words like, “lovingly yours” or “sincerely yours.” The first letter of the first word of the phrase must be written in capital letter.
Signature bears the name of the letter sender.
However, since this is an informal letter, a writer is allowed free verse. And the format is just suggestive but not strict. It can be altered at any point in time to make the personal letter more intimate and unique. Perhaps the only restriction imaginable is to keep the letter friendly. After all, there are still basic writing etiquettes. Even in informal letters, we frown on expletives and derogatory remarks. Bad jokes are also not tolerated.

A successful cover letter should have no more than four paragraphs. Each paragraph should provide interesting, reliable, and straightforward details about the job candidate, his capabilities, and achievements.
An effective cover letter reveals to the potential employer a genuine interest in working for that company. While there are basic guidelines of writing, it is important to keep cover letters definite and unique. An effective cover letter stands out and makes an impact to the reader.
Keep cover letters concise and straight to the point. The shorter, the better. It should ideally be a maximum of 4 paragraphs, with every paragraph having only 3 to 4 sentences.

Give added details on how you can endow with the advantages you stated in the opening paragraph. Make sure to highlight your achievements and successes rather than career responsibilities. It helps to use powerful action words to illustrate your achievements.
In the third paragraph, provide details and reasons why the company should get you. Expound on your credentials and imply to them that you are familiar with the company. Give small details about their company that will make them think you are keen in being a part of their team.
The fourth paragraph closes the letter and is equally important. Give an optimistic tone that you are qualified for the job. Request for the sought after job interview and leave the impression that you intend to follow-up.
A winning concluding paragraph should go something like this:

The Fathers

Modern Project Management

The PMI
In 1969, the Project Management Institute (PMI) was formed. As the name suggests, its primary concern is in serving and catering to the needs of the now wider field of project management. This organization then developed a handbook, the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which serves as the compilation of the standards and guidelines of the practice. The PMI exam, also sometimes referred to as the PMP (project management professional) exam, is based on the concepts in the PMBOK.
All discussions and workshops in any project management training include the bodies of knowledge outlined in the handbook. Among the key concepts are: initiating, planning, executing, controlling, closing and professional responsibility. These are also the same areas that are highlighted in the PMP exam.
